The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

A Shadow over North Carolina

Return to the Trip Overview

In one of the Sarracenia oreophila pictures a few web pages back, I pointed out some white quartz chunks in the foreground. Here is a closer look at them. Hey, Drosera intermedia! I checked my gross morphological ID of this plant by examining the stipules. Yep--Drosera intermedia. Those capsules were really packed with seed. (No, I did not take any.)

It was only about four in the afternoon, but the next morning I was to start looking for Venus Flytraps near the Atlantic Ocean coast. That was at least several road-hours away, so it was time to leave. I gathered my camera gear and returned to my rental car.
