The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

Western Australia in 2007

Return to the Trip Overview

Spectabulous! Drosera playtpoda! This is probably my favorite of the fan-leafed sundews! Look at the tall leafy stalks reaching upwards; they remind me of the sucker-covered arms of an octopus questing for prey. These two plants have an overall straw-yellow tinge to them.

Of course you can also see the Drosera purpurascens plants lurking here and there. Just as I write this, I notice for the first time that the Drosera playtpoda on the right is supporting a scrambling sundew, but I hesitate to guess what species.
