The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

Southern Portugal in 2011

Return to the Trip Overview

Fruit:
Despite the low light levels, the plants were fruiting well. (Flowering season was long past.)

Beth, Paulo and I spent some time ranging around, looking for other plants, but were not able to find any. There were only about 25 plants in one small area. We were particularly happy to find some plants only a few months old because Paulo had not previously found young plants there--and it is never good to see a plant population without recruitment occurring.

Overall, the site was small but, since it was on land associated with a nearby military installation, it was probably reasonably secure over the moderately long term.

Here is another composition of this plant.
