See those puddles in the ground? A fun thing about walking around
on Sphagnum mats is that those puddles might mean
nothing in particular, or they could signal that the mat is thin
enough that if you step on them you will sink up to your shins,
belt, arms, or head in cold water. It adds a bit of excitement
to your stride as you lug camera gear across the bog.
