The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

Being Stupid in Ontario in 2003

Return to the Trip Overview

Golden glow:
Aren't these plants just fantastic? While almost completely lacking red venation, the general blush of color throughout the leaves is still present. These plants were an exquisite shade of orange. Look how the pigmentation flows into the pitcher lip, too! Wow. (I used my diffuser when taking this photograph.)

I think this might have been my favorite plant in the bog. I had never before seen unveined plants like this, glowing orange.

By the way, let me tell you about my rental car. I had requested a "compact" as usual, but when I picked up my vehicle they supplied me with a big, bloated Chrysler Town & Country. Oh please! This exact same car-reassignment had occurred during a North Carolina trip just a few weeks earlier! Apparently, I had some kind of weird monster-van-mojo going on. Oh well, so much for the diminishing oil fields: Drill away, President Bush, drill away!
