The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

Idaho fen-hopping in 2006

Return to the Trip Overview

Flowering plants:
I gobbled my lunch under the shade of some pines and enjoyed the cooling breeze. After sating my thirst, I noticed with alarm that I had very little water left. I had lost far too much water in my protracted search--I had managed to spend nearly four hours searching the entire basin in full sun, while plants had been only ten minutes away from my starting point! As luck would have it, I had searched the basin in exactly the most inefficient way possible! So much for my damned spidey sense and years of experience.

After a rest and a bit more water, I returned to the nearby population of plants and took a few photographs of plants in flower.
