The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

Florida Panhandle in 2008

Return to the Trip Overview

Ping hunting:
Somewhat to my surprise, Brian and I managed to meet in the tiny town of Telogia as planned. Apparently, we had managed to find our ways at last into the same space-time continuum. We chatted for a few moments, describing what we had each seen, and Brian mentioned that one road nearby had vast numbers of flowering Pinguicula lutea, and also various color morphs of Pinguicula pumila.

The presence of this latter species was extremely interesting to me as I had only seen it twice before, in Texas and South Carolina. Seeing it in Florida would be excellent, so we headed off to find it.

We stopped at a likely site and found this nice Drosera brevifolia, but alas there was no Pinguicula pumila.
