The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

Florida Panhandle in 2008

Return to the Trip Overview

Stumped:
The fire had really been cooking on this stump! Here is a closer view, and here is the stump closer still!.

These explorations were only a prelude to my Florida carnivorous plant searches. My plan, after the meeting, was to head west to Tallahassee. There I would meet with Jim Miller (who lived in Tallahassee) and Bob McMorris (who was driving up from the south). These two guys are old school carnivorous plant enthusiasts who have been exploring the southeastern states for many years. We would spend a few days in Apalachicola National Forest looking at carnivorous plant sites.

I had been to Apalachicola before, but I was looking forward to revisiting it, especially with these two experts.
