Q: Field trip report: Eglin Air Force Base (Florida), in early summer 2010

A: Reasons to visit part of the USA needs no elaboration for carnivorous plant enthusiasts. It is the center of diversity for the genus Sarracenia, and also has a variety of other kinds of botanical excitement.

And so, in the late spring/early summer of 2010, Beth and I went to western Florida and southern Alabama! This very productive trip resulted in enough cool images and observations for four trip reports. Here is the first, and after a preamble it focuses on Eglin Air Force Base.
