The Carnivorous Plant FAQ v. 12

Q: Field trip report: Idaho fen-hopping

map
A: In the late summer of 2006 I journeyed to central Idaho. This part of the USA has some excellent carnivorous plant sites, especially locations with Drosera and Utricularia.

Because the nutrient levels are higher than in perched bogs, these sites are not truly bogs and instead are often called fens. But as long as they are suitable, carnivorous plants may occur there. I hoped to find two plants in particular: Drosera anglica and Utricularia intermedia. Anything else would be frosting on the cake!

See the field trip!
