The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

Southern Portugal in 2011

Return to the Trip Overview

Flowers:
As my final carnivorous plant photographs from Portugal, I have the above image of Pinguicula lusitanica, accompanied by this slightly closer view of the lower flower.

Perhaps more so than the other Pinguicula sites we had seen, this location seemed to be the most secure from development--even though the site was completely confined within perhaps a 40m stretch of a tiny water course. And despite the site's small size, Paulo said it was the best he had seen in Portugal. That made me happy, as I felt we had given back to him a gift, in partial trade for the considerable effort and time he and his cohorts had spent with us in the field.
