The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

Okefenokee and Doerun Georgia in 2003.

Return to the Trip Overview

Varietal Hybrids:
Unlike in the previous photograph, the throat splotches on these plants are not as bold and continuous. They are almost certainly hybrids between Sarracenia flava var. rugelii and the all-green Sarracenia flava var. maxima. We looked for plants that we were certain were Sarracenia flava var. maxima, but could not find any. (We found several candidates, but could not rule out the possibility that they were Sarracenia flava var. rugelii hybrids that had not yet developed pigment.)
