The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

Apalachicola National Forest in 2010

Return to the Trip Overview

Return
I had still not gotten an images of Sarracenia flava var. rubricorpora! Since this was a major target of this part of the trip, we pledged to spend an entire day, if needed, sitting at the "red-tube" site until the conditions were right.

And so we returned to the Sarracenia flava var. rubricorpora site. As if sensing our boundless determination, the weather was more compliant, and within a mere 30 minutes we started getting the images I had so desired.

I don't know what you might think, but for me, it was worth it! This was the culmination of years of wanting to get to see these plants in full, fresh growth.

Here is another view of the many plants.

And yet another view; this one includes a lone Sarracenia flava var. ornata pitcher---can you see it?
