Cliff dwellings:
Sure enough, clinging to the sheer rock walls were Pinguicula plants! They were well out of reach, so
we had to examine them with our binoculars. This is a photograph taken with a telephoto lens, looking nearly straight up.
The plants look dead, but I was able to see that they were actually just dormant. Fruiting stalks on the plants indicate
that while their cliff-adhering lifestyle is precarious, it works well for them!
I have not been able to determine what kind of rock this is. Can anyone fill me in with something more authoritative than
a guess?
