Bladderwort flowers:
Aren't they pretty? This is what the flowers of Utricularia foliosa look like. I took it with a flash, which is why it looks black in the background. A few minutes after I took this photograph, I accidentally toppled a fire ant mound. It took quick work moving my camera bag and lenses before they were overwhelmed by the angry arthropods.

Tired of the noise from my gaily clad Homo sapiens cohorts, I gathered my gear and headed towards Big Cypress. There is a loop drive that I highly recommend, from Monroe Station south. I had tried it in the past, but it was flooded. I hoped for better luck this time.
