The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

New South Wales, Australia, in 2007

Return to the Trip Overview

More pygmies:
I had only seen pygmy sundews once previously, on a trip nearly a decade earlier to Kangaroo Island (South Australia). Those plants were pretty battered and abused in the heat, and my attempts to photograph them were all just handheld. These plants, though were in much better shape and I took advantage of the opportunity. Notice that the sand has an ever so slight salmon cast to it. I think that is accurate, and is not a result of my tweaking the color correction on the image to make the plants look red!
