A: OK, first, here are a few quick disclaimers.
- I do not financially benefit from any of these ideas, well, except for the first one.
- This list reflects my own personal biases, and not those of the ICPS, etc., etc.
- I do not mean to snub any nurseries by not listing them. See disclaimer #2.
- You will notice several links are to California Carnivores. Why? Because I know this business and the proprietors (see disclaimers #2,3) and I know they do good business.
- This is not a list for me. Sorry mom, guess you will have to buy me that 400 mm ED IF telephoto lens instead!
- I hope the links are still good!
- My Book! Duh!!! If you can catch me at a meeting, I'll be more than happy to sign it for you! Then you can sell it on eBay for a fortune and retire early.
- Savage Garden book Less than $20, this book is GREAT. Available at most big bookstores, you can order it from the author and have it signed, too.
- Gift certificate for plants! There are many nurseries on the web you can buy plants from. Even if they don't make gift certificates, make one yourself in the name of the nursery. Pay the bill yourself. Stop off at California Carnivores and shop.
- Carnivorous Plant T-Shirts Once again, I am sending you to California Carnivores. They have some great T-shirts for sale at various prices.
- Join the ICPS! Members get Carnivorous Plant Newsletter. It costs $25 a year. Members also get access to the seedbank.
- Carnivorous Plant Mousepads, Shirts, Mugs, etc! Carl and Sherry Taylor at cpimages(at)twlakes.net have created a set of products with ICPS photos and logos on them. What a nice pair of people! E-mail them and find out if they've got anything you might like.
- Aquarium wipers! "What are these," you ask? A couple of magnets that you can use (one on either side of the aquarium glass) to wipe the surface of that nasty algae-coated aquarium, so you can entertain guests again.
- Artwork! Artist Scott Bennett has some fantastic artwork of carnivorous plants, beautiful paintings. These cost from $85 to $100, so are pretty expensive. But they are fantastic. E-mail Scott directly at rspainter(at)aol.com
- A battery operated Venus flytrap! You can get something that claims to actually be able to catch flies and wasps. I'm not so sure it will work, but it looks like it might! It sure looks fun--it burps! I've seen it offered on various web sites; most recently http://www.paramountzone.com/fcatcher.htm.
